The 9/23 edition of Smackdown did a 2.15 rating with 3,257,000 viewers.

Excellent rating for Smackdown. Well above a 2 rating and a big boost from the previous week. I say that the fans are tuning in to watch Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara :p

Here's my Smackdown ratings assessment:

Christian wins the title heading into the draft, ratings steady.
After draft, Orton wins the title, ratings tank. Stay down while he's the champ.
Orton drops the title to Christian, ratings start going back up.
Orton wins BACK the title, ratings drop AGAIN.
Live Smackdown episode on Tuesday night does great. Regular format goes back to crap.
Orton drops the title to Mark Henry, ratings INSTANTLY rise.

Randy Orton's new gimmick: The Ratings Killer.

Have to agree Seak but I really don't think that Christian would've sustained ratings for a huge amount of time but a two month reign as a face would've been nice and would've give the fans something different rather than Orton. I think turning him heel was a big mistake and that's probably why ratings didn't shoot up in his second reign.

Mark Henry was a ratings winner on ECW and he is proving it here again. Hopefully next week the rating can remain high so that Vince sees that the title needs to stay off Orton. I agree that turning Christian heel hurt the ratings for his second title reign, if he was a face champion I am sure more would have tuned in.

It's simple, if Orton doesn't have title. Everyone will watch.

They need to refresh the show by keeping him off for a long time. RAW should do the same thing with Cena. Give us something different in the mainevent and people may decide to tune in.

The 9/30 edition of Smackdown did a 1.98 rating with 2,940,000 viewers.

Slight drop in the ratings but I would call that a 2 rating. Hopefully after the crazy finish to RAW this week plus the advertising of Big Show returning lots of fans will tune in to watch Smackdown this week.

- To update the earlier RAW ratings, this week’s Supershow did a 3.05 cable rating with an average of 4,270,000 viewers. Hour 1 did a 2.95 rating while hour 2 did a 3.14.

Quite a big drop there compared to last weeks rating of 3.4 where as this week it dropped slightly. Looks like something may need to be done...

To be honest I don't see the big problem with a 3. With the current climate being the way it is and also a lot more on offer TV wise a 3 in my eyes is fantastic. Looking at the attitude era ratings only a couple of those years in the era did fantastic ratings with the rest between the 3 and the 4 mark.

They still quite could ratings considering how many programmes there are to choose from NFL on mondays and wrestling not being very populaur at the minute

I thought that the week before the rating was either just on 3 or actually below three? I don't remember them hitting a 3.4 rating in the past couple of weeks.

The rating was up slightly on the pervious weeks show I heard. But yeah, nowadays I think a 3 is the benchmark and I don't see reason to be worried unless RAW constantly drops under 3.

Unfortunately I agree. I think that 3.0 is the benchmark for RAW and 2.0 for Smackdown. RAW will only hit 4.0 again when something really special happens, WWE's best chance this year are the appearances by The Rock later this year but I think that it is more likely to be in the 3.5-3.7 range than above 4.0. Next year during the Road to WrestleMania should be the time they really push for 4.0 ratings.
