The family of a 2-year-old boy who died after falling from a skybox at Staples Center last November filed a lawsuit against the venue's owner Tuesday.

The family of Lucas Tang names Staples Center owner Anschutz Entertainment Group in connection with their son's accidental death.

Tang, of Garden Grove, fell about 28 feet from the third deck of luxury seats several minutes after the Lakers beat the Warriors 117-89 on November 21, 2010.

The suit claims that the two-foot-high barrier separating the luxury box from the arena is dangerous and negligent.

The family said no signs were posted to warn of "dangerous conditions" and that the arena keeps it low because it allows fans to have an unobstructed view of the game.

AEG did not release a comment.

LAPD officials say the boy's parents had taken pictures and were reviewing them on a camera moments before he apparently wandered out of their sight and somehow fell over the glass partition.

The child later died of severe head trauma.

He would have turned three in January.

The 950,000-square-foot stadium opened in 1999 and has 160 luxury suites on three levels.

Department of Building and Safety spokesman David Laras said the building is in compliance with city code.

Staples Center, owned by AEG, has never had an incident like this in 11 years, spokesperson Michael Roth said.
