A woman aiming a loaded gun at her daughter and grandchildren was fatally shot by police Wednesday night, reports said.
Police received reports around 7:15 p.m. of a woman threatening to shoot family members outside a residence on the 10000 block of Anzack Avenue.
As many as 5 officers responded to the scene and confronted the woman. That's when the shooting occurred, LAPD Deputy Chief Pat Gannon said.
LAPD would not confirm to KTLA what led to the fatal shooting.
The woman, described as being in her 50s, died at the scene.
The victim's daughter and her children have been taken in to Southeast Division headquarters for questioning.
An investigation is currently underway.
