Well lets hope we even have an off-season to talk about and they get this lockout situation done.

In other news though apparently there was some rumor that the Ravens were gonna buyout Ray Lewis's contract for him to retire and still work with the Ravens. But thankfully on the Dan Patrick show he shot that down quick and hard.

Couple news and notes from today:
WASHINGTON (AP)—NFL and players union representatives are meeting in Washington to discuss a new collective bargaining agreement.
It’s the second session in five days, the previous negotiations taking place in Dallas on Saturday.

Team owners opted out of the CBA in 2008 and the current contract expires March 3. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell heavily emphasized the need to get a deal done soon during his Super Bowl news conference last week.
NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith has said he expects the owners to lock out the players after the CBA expires.
Another negotiating session has been scheduled for later this week.

They def need to figure all this shit out and avoid a lockout, the sport is more popular than ever, and a lockout is the last thing the need. Don't think they would take a hit in popularity as big as MLB took the last time they locked out, but there's def going to be some fans turned away if they do.

DALLAS (AP)—Ticket-holding football fans who ended up with no seats or what they considered bad views of the Super Bowl have filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones.
The federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in Dallas—just two days after the big game—alleges breach of contract, fraud and deceptive sales practices on behalf of people who ended up watching the game on TV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, or had seats the lawsuit labeled “illegitimate.”
The NFL had announced just hours before the Green Bay Packers played the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday that about 1,250 temporary seats were deemed unsafe, and the league scrambled to find new seats for about 850 people. The remaining 400 were forced to watch from standing-room locations around the stadium.

One plaintiff is a Steelers fan from Pennsylvania who was among the 400 with a ticket

but no seat. The other is a Cowboys season ticket holder who claims many of Jones’ biggest-spending fans were stuck in metal folding chairs without a view of the stadium’s giant video board.
Spokesmen for the Cowboys and the NFL had no comment Wednesday.
Los Angeles-based attorney Michael J. Avenatti said he expects the suit to cover about 1,000 people.
“No one is attempting to get rich from this,” he said. “People are merely interested in being compensated for what happened (at the stadium) and the cost that goes with that.”
Avenatti said he’s a Cowboys season ticket holder who attended Sunday’s game. He said he wasn’t one of the fans affected by the seating issues but heard plenty of complaints.
“People at the game were disgusted, but it doesn’t take long to be disgusted with a situation like this,” he said.
Avenatti said Steve Simms, the Steelers fan named in the lawsuit, was so put off by trying to watch the game from standing-room areas that he left at halftime.
Mike Dolabi, the Cowboys season ticket holder in the lawsuit, is among a group called “Founders” who paid $100,000 per seat just for the right to buy tickets. Those so-called personal seat licenses resulted in more than $100 million in revenue for Jones, according to the lawsuit, which seeks $5 million in damages.
Some of those fans were in temporary seats under overhangs and couldn’t see the giant video board above the field, “which defendant Jones and the Cowboys routinely claim is one of the most unique and best features of Cowboys Stadium,” the lawsuit said. They could see the field, and extra TVs were installed in those areas.
“You were effectively in a bat cave,” Avenatti said. “You don’t take your 400 best customers and treat them like that.”
The lawsuit alleges the Cowboys have offered no compensation to their ticket holders for “their obstructed and illegitimate seats.”
The NFL has said the roughly 400 fans without seats have two options. The first is a ticket to next year’s Super Bowl and a cash payment of $2,400, three times the face value of the ticket. The second is a ticket to any future Super Bowl, along with round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations.

The deal that they offered is prett damn good IMO, and more than makes up for them loosing there seats, 5M seems kind of crazy and I really doubt that they win this lawsuit.

NFL really cannot afford to have a lock out now. I def don't want to deal with a NFL lockout and NBA lockout both happening. I'm gonna say they get something worked out tho.

McGahee doesn't matter, there are 100 guys like him. He'll catch on somewhere as a goal-line back.

Sanders on the other hand is a potential diamond in the rough. The team that snatches him up could get a superstar on the cheap. I'd love for the Patriots to go after him.

If he can not get hurt then yeah you get a pro bowler for a good ass price. Not looking too likely though about not getting hurt unless he turns into the grant hill or football in a good way.

As for Willis not a real loss if they cut him. Can just use Mclain if the Ravens need to spell Ray.

Should have been done don't get why it's even got to this point. It'll probably top whatever Brady got.

A few tidbits from around the league.

Tommie Harris has been released by the Bears. I thought he had a little better year this year but still not living up to old expectations and obviously cost way too much to keep around. Im sure he will get a chance elsewhere.

Clinton Portis is gone is Washington. No big news here , his wear is really starting to show and they need to start to rebuild and go on a youth movement. I see a team taking a shot on him as a role player but certainly dont ever see him being a full time starter again.

And Sidney Rice and Marcus Spears are both going to test the market. Rice can be a hell of a pickup for someone with a decent quarterback. Spears isnt great but is serviceable as a 3-4 and a team transitioning would be smart to sign him ... although Im sure he wants way too much.

Those could be some good signings if they can stay healthy.

Apparently also the Packers let AJ Hawk go. Kind of surprised me.
