Get ready to have the time of your lives...again!
Lionsgate has announced plans to remake Dirty Dancing, the 1987 classic film that starred Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze.

The film company has tapped Kenny Ortega, who choreographed the original's iconic numbers, to direct. Variety reports that the remake will incorporate songs from the original -- chestnuts like "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," "Hungry Eyes" and "She's Like the Wind" -- plus more classic 1960s songs and new tunes.

Set in the 1960s, the first Dirty Dancing took place at a Catskills resort and followed the coming-of-age of teenaged "Baby" (Grey) who falls for a sexy resort dance instructor Johnny (Swayze, who died in 2009) as they work together on a dance routine.

"The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me," director Ortega (who helmed the High School Musical films and Michael Jackson's This Is It) said. "Growing up in the '60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist."

Finding stars to fill the shoes of Grey and Swayze will be tough, he admitted. "Patrick Swayze set the bar for men dancing in the movies as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did before him."

considering the footloose remake, it's not that i'm surprised but i hate how they remake movies that are supposedly considered classics
