A 6-week-old girl is hospitalized after being repeatedly stabbed by her mother with a kitchen knife, police say.

Kern County deputies were called to the home on Crawford Street by the child's father.

Investigators say the father arrived home to find the wounded infant and called 911.

The mother, 24-year-old Danielle Mailloux, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The baby was taken by ambulance first taken to Kern Medical Center, and then transferred to Children's Hospital Central California in Madera.

Another child found in the home has been placed with relatives.

Mailloux was investigated in 2009 after being birth to a stillborn baby, according to Bakersfieldnow.com.

The coroner determined the fetus had methamphetamine in its system.

Mailloux was never charged.
