A 34-year-old man is recovering from severe injuries Wednesday after his teenage ex-girlfriend ran over him and his new girlfriend near Little Havana.
The 19-year-old woman was not happy with her son’s father’s new love and nearly killed him Tuesday, police said.
Leslie Shantelle Sanabria was traveling eastbound on Flagler Street when she spotted the couple at a bus stop on the westbound lanes. She made a sharp U-turn and sped up in a brown-burgundy 1993 Toyota Camry, which she had allegedly stolen from a guy friend.
Lazaro Crespo, Sanabria’s former boyfriend and the father of their child, told police he put his hands up and yelled for Sanabria to stop.
But instead, in a jealous fury she struck Crespo and Olga Barrero, 19, at 30th Avenue, police said.
She then drove away and abandoned the car at a nearby Walgreens’ parking lot and ran. The car had frontal damage.
Miami rescue took Crespo to an area hospital. He had severe head injuries, a broken leg and several cuts. Barrero had only some minor cuts and bruises.
A few hours later, police arrested Sanabria and charged her with attempted murder and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
