Green Lantern

Comic book movie based on will courage and fear. Pretty decent see it in 2D not worth the extra to see it in 3D(only showing my theater had) Aside from the shitty suit which at time kinda makes since most of the effects were good as far as comic book movies go.

X-Men First Class [2011] 5/10
Considering the talent involved, the writer and director this should have been much better. It had its moments, is visually intertesting and has a great ending which nicely sets up the next movie, but it never got going for me, it was poorly written, a very good cast were wasted, and I just found it a bit dull. Not the great reboot I was hopeing for.

A Short Film About Killing [Krotki Film o Zabijaniu] 8/10 and A Short Film About Love [Krotki Film o Milosci] 9/10
Two great gems from maveck director Krzysztof Kieslowski. The first one is about a young men who slowly turns crazy over the course of the story, and constantly day dreams about actually killing someone, at the same time you get a story of a young up and coming lawyer taking his taste and getting his first case, he ends up defending the murderer, and bonds with him, in the days leading up to his exculcation. ASFAL is about a lonely teenager who spies on his neighbour, and basically comes up with over obsessive ways to meet and spend time with her, basically he believes he is in love with her, but when they start talking she reveals that she doesn't believe in love, and that sex is the only thing appealing about love. The ironic thing is that she turns out to be a more twisted and sinster character than he. But films show the directors tender touch, and how he can make unlikeable characters intertesting, and almost make you care about them. Many complex issues are well handled in both films, visonally they are both great. I would recommend the Love one a little more, because it has a little more to the story and more invested in its characters, and isn't as slow as the other film, but you must see both!

Love, Like Poison [2011] 5.5/10
Basic tale about a girl who comes home from a boarding school, to discover that her parents have split up, while at the same time she experiences love for the first time, and struggles to find herself. It is a beautifully designed and funny in places, but to me it just didn't have enough to say, and the characters just weren't intertesting enough.

Taken [2009] 2/10
Terrible, terrible action film starring Liam Neeson. It is so, dumb and over the top, but not in an entertaining way, it is a film where everyone who isn't american is reduced to a steriotype, and are either evil or weak. Neeson is very good actor, but I don't think action is his strong suit, not to mention the naff script he is handed, the stunts are nothing special, and in places it is just so load and over the top, then it just gets boring and becomes hard to watch. Although I did have a good laugh in places, oh how I laughed!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer [1992] 7/10
First saw this years ago, and didn't think much of it back then, but thought I would give it another go this evening, and second time around I really enjoyed it. Kristy Swanson gives it her all as the empity handed, stuck up high school girl who turns into a festy and more intelligent Vampire slayer, the likes of Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens, Rutger Hauer and a young Hilary Swank add fine support, there are some romping action scenes, and some very funny touque in cheek humour. Very entertaining!

Day of the Dead [1985] 7/10
Completely mind horror, with some brilliant over the top acting and funny one liners, but as always there is a poltically substence at work here, and it slowly draws you in, and becomes very powerful and scary.

Lakeview Terrence [2008] 6.5/10
Stylish and powerful, nuts and bolts thriller, about a racist cop who makes life hell for a mixed race couple who move in next door to him. For such a throw away b-movie idea, it still has a sinister edge, and is very well acted, with some enjoyable hammy moments, however as it reaches the crutch part of the story, it gets a little too silly, and the plot twists do strench its credibility too far. Still solid.

The Hole [2001] 6/10
Very avenge teen thriller, featuring a early appearence from Keira Knightly, and Desmond Harrington [who can now be seen in Dexter], the talented Thora Birch keeps things together on the acting front, although she is much more effective as the posh, snob, but disturbed teen, than as the sweet and innocent one you see only in the film. The main flaw is that the script just doesn't have enough ideas to carry both sides of the story and to make you debate which one might be true. Also it never really gets to grips with the tension of the characters in the hole, it just resorts to flashy MTV style visuals and load sudden noises for atmosphere and scares. So not scary enough or interesting basically.

Mr. Poppers Penguins

YES! So I was dying to see this movie, and I got to two nights ago. It was one of my favorite books growing up, and it was absolutely amazing to see it in movie form. With who better then Jim Freaking Carry. One of my favorite actors of all time. The movie was really funny, and everything I expected it to be. Jim Carry was the perfect cast for the role of Popper, and it was just an overall really fun night. But then again, not everyone thinks like me because they all think movies have to have special effects, or "great acting." No. All movies are supposed to do is put a smile on your face. And that's what this movie did. Stop nit picking every little detail, and watch it for what it's worth. A freaking movie.

So then every movie is a ten. Because no matter how shitty it is it's occupying your time and at some point your going to smile.

I'm sorry I have to have a decent story and Can't have lens flares and other unnecessary things distracting me through a movie I just can't enjoy it that way. I've not seen Mr. Pooper but I'm willing to give it a shot.

There have been some movies that I just haven't liked, but yes to me, I see every movie on a clean slate, and I never compare it with anything else. If it has a good story, okay acting, and can keep my attention throughout the time, then yes, I usually do rate it very high.

Well thats good I've seen some movies people consider bad that I still enjoy I think everyone has. I thought you were implying something else I guess. I'd never heard about this movie until a week or two ago quite honestly.

People with no discernible taste think everything deserves a clean slate. That penguin movie looks terrible. I didn't like the book and I won't be watching this. Jim Carrey's time was the 90s and comedy has past him by. It happens, like how Mike Myers time was the early 00s and Steve Martins was the early 80s.

My god yes, I don't think I've laughed at a Jim Carrey movie in a decade. His time has more than came and went

Jim Carry is actually a much better serious actor than comic. I never really found him funny, but in things like the Truman Show, Man in the Moon and Enteral Sunshine of the Spotless Mind [all great films], then his comic performances are turned on their head, and made into something darker, more surreal, and believeable too.

I wouldn't say I'll give things a clean slate but I'll watch pretty much anything. That being said.

Quarantine 2
It's a zombie movie. Takes place in a baggage claim area of an airport and the pretty much sums it up. It's not the best zombie movie it's not the worst.

Definitely agree with this. Whilst I think he's far from bad as a comedy actor, his best performances have been serious roles. Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, as you mentioned, especially.

Loved the clairvoyant nature of Truman Show. My favourite Carrey film.
