Anybody else waiting for WWE to turn Mick Foley's book into a movie. It's a perfect fit for them. A wrestler could play the father and the step father. The source material has oscar potential in itself it's the type of movie the academy eats up.

I'm sure it's been awhile since most of us have read it but it's basically about a kid who is in foster care. He gets molested by his foster father then gets raped, murders the rapist and is sent to juvie. He gets released and is picked up by his abusive biological father.

I could see how the WWE would be weary of putting a wrestler in the role of a rapist or abusive father. But they want Hollywood to stand up and take notice this would be the perfect material.

Randy Orton could probably play the foster father (not quite old enough for a teen) Perhaps have Stone Cold play the dad maybe HHH.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea who would you cast?

If this movie was made by WWE it wouldn't get the time of day in Hollywood, no matter how good the movie would be.

If another company were to option it, it would be heralded because it's the type of sad for sad sake movie that critics crasturbate to.

I think it'd be all about the director. You get a name director to take it on and you'll be fine. Spielberg (though not really his type) Afronskey or Nolan and they'd be fine. I can only see a wrestler playing the part of his dad. I would have said Mick as a character but I don't think I could see him acting that mean and take it seriously.

Even if it were optioned away and it was nothing but Hollywood I'd still be ok with it.

If Foley were to be cast in it, I would have all confidence in him to be able to pull it off. It would be like his old ECW promos.

It'd be interesting but I've met Foley a few times. He's just so damn nice I don't know if I could suspend belief for him in the role.

Ton Hanks gives people diabetes because he's so sweet, but he can still pull off believable characters, or Michael J Fox playing pricks on Rescue Me and that show about Good Wifes.

It can be done.

When was the last time Hanks pulled off a dick character? Micheal J. Fox on Rescue me was more priceless than anything else. Didn't see the other show.

I think a stubble faced (just the stubble) HHH make him look haggard would be a good father model. I mean you also kind of want this guy to look like a threat. Must people(general public) don't look at Foley and think o shit that guys gonna put the hurt on me. Also after The Chaperone HHH needs to get his balls back.

All I know is if Rodney Dangerfield could pull off an abusive molester father, Foley has a fighting chance.

But it's the entire reason why the Mallory character became what she did. That exposition helped the movie and Dangerfield played it perfectly.

Anyways, I still say if the company behind it says WWE Films, noone is going to take it seriously. If The Wrestler was still the same director and actors, but had WWE Films as its producers, it wouldn't have gotten the goodwill it did.

They need to do more films like Thats what I am use their superstars less build there film brand and then they'll be able to do what they want but your right they probably will not do very well for awhile.
