Angry Boys is the new comedy series by Chris Lilley the genius behind We Can Be Heroes and Summer Heights High. To those living outside of Australia the goods news is BBC and HBO are picking up this series like the did with Summer Heights High. I can't recommend Chris Lilley highly enough his work on Summer Heights High in particular was amazing.

Angry Boys follows the same format of his past two shows where it follows a handful of unqiue characters all played by Chris Lilley.

Here is the trailer:

Here is the breakdown of the characters:

Jen Okazaki: A softly spoken Japanese woman who forces her son Tim onto the pro-skateboarding circuit, as a 'gay' rider. Although Tim is not of this orientation, Jen uses her tyrannic attitude to construct a skateboarding enterprise for her son.
Daniel & Nathan Sims: Recurring characters from earlier Chris Lilley series, We Can Be Heroes, Nathan and Daniel are identical twins. Nathan became deaf after an accident at a young age and Daniel donated an eardrum to him. In Angry Boys, much to Daniel's disagreement, Nathan has been enrolled in a 'deaf school' and Daniel attempts to rally support against the movement.
Ruth Sims: The grandmother of Nathan and Daniel who works at the Juvenile Justice Centre for Boys. Sims administers her own version of tough love to the inmates.
S.Mouse: A rapper who has produced the biggest-selling hip-hop single of all time. S.Mouse is confined to his father's house after charged with public nuisance charges.
Blake Oakfield: A champion surfer who, despite his victories, is disliked by many members of his community and is involved in surfing 'gang' battles and the founder of surfing gang Mucca Mad Boys.

It is a shame that he isn't bringing back Jonah since that charcter was my favourite from Summer Heights High. This is going to be a great show and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I haven't looked forward to a debut show as much as this one for a very long time.

First episode aired this week and I really liked it. We only got to see the Sims brothers and grandma Sims but it was funny. Supposedly the reaction was that it wasn't funny but I think that peoples expectations were way too high, topping Summer Heights High was always going to be hard. Plus we haven't even seen three of the characters yet. Ruth Sims is a hilarious character and Chris Lilley is so talented to play all these roles. The debut episode drew 1.368 million viewers which is above the 1.22 million rating that the premiere episode of Summer Heights High recieved.

The shows airs in the US and UK later this year.

Second episode was really good. S.Mouse was introduced and it is another great example of Lilley being able to take these characters to the extreme but in a good way. Funny character who for most fans is going to draw some comparisons to Jonah. Still no sighting of the surfer or the mother of the gay skateboarder. The rating dropped slightly to 1.346 million viewers but that is a good hold from the debut episode.

It premieres in the UK in June on BBC 3

Yeah it starts next week in the UK. I read an intertesting interview with the guy behind it at the weekend, I have not seen any of his other stuff, but I think I will give this one a try.

If you wish to get updated.

Last night was Episode 5 where Nathan had a deaf friend over (That deaf person is one of my close mates irl), he plays the role of Damien.

His previous series Summer Heights High was his best work. This is good but the previous series was just perfectly done.

That is awesome that you know someone from that show.

I caught the most recent episode after missing episode four and I thought that it was good.

All we can do is laugh.

He had a charting song from Summer Heights High as well, Naughty Girl that reached #7. I am sure that Slap My Elbow will rise up the charts again this week.
