I noticed there was no thread on this, shame on you. So, Eddie Edwards beat Rodrick Strong on Manhattan Mayhem to become the very first ROH Triple Crown Champion.

Two years ago the ROH faithfuls saw Eddie as a nothing wrestler. He wasn't suppose to get over, but he did. His teaming with Davey Richards as the American Wolves helped catapult his ROH career and soon he was seen as one of the most solid workers on the roster. He is more than deserving of this title run, and I'm extremely excited to see what he does with the title. A feud with Davey Richards for the belt is impossible not to book, and any time these two faced off has been great. Putting the World Title in the picture could make it one of the best feuds the company has seen.

This is a great decision and has been in the works since they created the TV belt for him. Richards is the money feud but not sure they will want to wait to build it. Strong probably sticks around for a while when Daniels goes.

I'm about to watch ROH on WMR-Sports

So I'm hoping he cuts a promo or something, this is a very good move by ROH.

It's fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

I'm not gonna say Richards is the lesser member now or that he's overrated because he's neither but since Death before Dishonor last years, Eddie Edwards has became a guy I literally rated for a while! And I remember predicting this since he won Survival of Fittest that he will defeat Strong...

Once again, EoR is right, motherfucka's!

We had a thread for the actual event so we have been discussing it :p

It does deserve it's own thread though because it is a huge moment. I didn't expect it to happen this soon but I am glad it has happened this soon since it is a huge surprise and it adds even more interest to the iPPVs that are coming up. It makes them must watch. They have to book the Richards feud almost right away just to capitalise on everything while the iron is hot.

Richards is already building himself up for his next run at the title. He says it will be his last try. But I have a feeling it's going to be somewhat of a slow build as he just "changed his wrestling style" to a more MMA based style. While they continue with that build they can keep building Edwards title run, and a few months from now they can announce this huge ass match. It's pure money, and it gives Edwards a decent amount of time with the title, because we all know Davey will win the title when he challenges for it.

All I can say is, about freaking time...

In my opinion, Eddie Edwards defined what ROH is all about the day he first steped into that ring. Now seeing Eddie go full circle and defying his critics, the sky's the limit for him!

Like everyone else I did not see it coming, and certainly can not denay the reaction he got after winning the title, weather he can stay over that strong long term as ROH world champion I have my doubts.

While I rate Edwards I just think there should be a longer build up from him being a good television champion and him winning the biggest prize in ROH. And I don't think he is as good as Richards yet, for me Richards is world class, and as good as Edwards is he is not at that level again. Now it is possibly that they may make something out of this and turn Richards heel, because of his obsession with not being able to win the world title, and push him that way. But keeping it short, I think it is too soon, and that Davey Richards would be a more deserving champion at this point.

One thing in their favour though is how they have kept people guessing, I mean Seaks said that surely Richards would win if the two were to meet for the title, but I don't think you can say for certain anymore. People were convinced that he would beat Strong for the title at Final Battle, and that didn't happen. Sure I will predict that he might win the title in the next year, but I can't even be certain of that, the way things have been going.

They don't need to turn Richards heel for them to face for the title. They have faced each other before while being the American Wolves, hell they fought for the TV title. With them built as both trying to compete to be the best, it's easy to have a face vs face feud.

The reason I say Richards will win is simply because it's being built as his last chance. So there are two possible outcomes, one Richards takes a loss and retires, or two he wins. I hope he doesn't retire, so I'm going to say he'll win.
