"Wade Barrett beat Kofi Kingston at tonight’s Smackdown taping to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The match will air on this week’s Smackdown on Friday."

Glad of this title change. Kofi was really going nowhere with the title and had really started to disappoint. Imo Wade will shine with this title, now that just leaves Ezekiel Jackson in the Corre without a title. Do you think WWE could push him to WHC level and have the Corre dominate Smackdown ?

Well apart from the occassional PPV I watch next to nothing of WWE, so I can't comment on weather Kofi has been good as champion or not. What I would say is that he has had a number of chances to shine now, and if it still is not quite working then maybe it is time for a change.

I too agree that it is a good chance for Barrett to really step up, it is a good title for a heel like him to hold, where he can maybe shine in interviews, devolp his character, and also get more experience in the ring.

Barrett getting the IC title means nothing for him, it means Kofi is on his way to teaming with JTG or being the Smackdown version of Ted Dibiase.

A title on Barrett is just an accessory, since the damn belt is totally useless now and no one even bothers going for it anymore.

They probably putting the IC belt on Barret so he can build up some good heat w/ the IC division..bring some good story lines into that area..Remember when Y2J held the belt? He was already a world champ before that..n a big star..well in this case Wade is fesh, young, n has a good rep as being a heel with heat. So I think this is to hype up the IC division n bring some real heel heat into the division.

Yeah I think Scott and deezy are being far too nagitive, yes the belt might mean little now, but there is no reason why that can't change given the right push with Barrett. And it makes total sense to put it on him, because he is a good old fashioned heel, who won't be in the spotlight so much with this title, and therefore will be given a chance to grow.

I am very, very happy by this move. Kofi was being buried as champion and that was hurting the title. If they were going to book Kofi on a losing streak then make him lose the title and what a great choice for a replacement champion. Wade Barrett was the breakout star of NXT but ever since his move to Smackdown everything has been about Corre as a group and he doesn't seem like a singles wrestler anymore. This gives him the opportunity to show of his skills and gives Corre more prestige since they now hold two out of the three titles. I can't see Jackson moving up to WHC level, why would your leader be IC champion and another guy be WHC it would be the other way around, but he is doing fine in this current role anyway.

I am confident that they can restore the prestige of the IC title. The Corre are featured on Smackdown each week in a prominent position so there is no chance of him not being booked on Smackdown like Kofi was one week. Barrett will be given promo time each week and will most likely wrestle each week therefore giving the title more tv time.

I think Wade might bring back some credibility to the IC title. As someone said he is young and fresh. He could bring the IC Division a breathe of fresh air for sure. I just hope WWE brings a lot of good out of it and makes the title feel important again. Even if it is temporary. Wade Barrett + Intercontinental Championship just feels right. Seems really classy and something I am already buying into. WWE don't fail me now!
