UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones won't be fighting former teammate Rashad Evans this fall. Evans will instead face Phil Davis at UFC 133 since the champ will be out nursing an injured thumb.

Nevertheless the two are at it like divorced lovers. First Cage Potato documents some ugly texts sent to Jones by Evans:

While making promotional appearances at the MMA Expo and MMA Live show in London, Ontario, UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon ‘Bones' Jones took the time for an interview. [Ed. note: We'll be posting the video later.] Speaking on a number of subjects, off-camera, the question of the authenticity of a recent racially-charged insult from Rashad Evans came up.

I took this photo of Jones's smartphone (blacking out Evans's number), which contradicts Rashad Evans' earlier denial where he wrote, "Let me just state 4 the record I never made a racist statement 2 Jones. Jones creditability [sic] is gone with his fake surgery."

Jones confirmed the CP story with a tweet:

Evans went on Inside MMA to respond (transcribed by Fight Opinion):

"Yeah I did say that to him but he also said a lot of things to me that I didn't want to put out there. I mean, we were arguing - I said a lot of things, he did, back and forth, you know? But I did call him a fake ass white boy, I did," Evans said.

"But its not that I think being a white boy is a bad thing, its not against white people in general. Its an insult to him because he's not white, you can see where the insult comes in. That's the extent of the insult right there - its not an insult against white people, its that he's black and I'm calling him white.

"It made him mad because he posted it on the internet - and what kind of move is that anyway? That's like high school, grade school s--t - ‘Look what Rashad said to me! Look everyone, look, look!' - what I am gonna do, call my mom coz Jon Jones said a bunch of mean things to me?"

"If I offended anybody I deeply do apologise, some of my best friends are white," he laughed. "I got no problem with white people it was just a simple fact that to be a black person and be called something that you are not is very offensive."

The UFC needs to do what it takes to get Evans in the cage with Jones. Phil Davis stands an excellent chance of beating Evans at UFC 133 and then Evans vs Jones never happens.
